SNARE PATROL DOUBLED UP FRIDAY 12/5/17 Due to the cable snare found on the side of the road next to the flattened bush area, near the Baobab Ext turn off, see – ALERT - POSSIBLE SNARED ELEPHANT - KARIBA ANIMAL WELFARE FUND TRUST 11/5/17 Parks availed 3 extra Rangers so 2 teams were on the ground. One team to sweep the above area - the gully from the dump, across the main tar road following the gully along side of baobab through Batonga. The other team continued on as normal with the area designated for the Friday Sweep One of the patrols is shown the area of the incident, which would be snare swept  the next day The Patrol recovered 4 wires snares (for Bush buck, Water Buck, Kudu etc.) in the short area from the

ALERT -  PLEASE BE ON THE LOOK OUT for a Buffalo with a tight snare on back leg ALERT REPORT BUFFALO WITH SNARE WIRE Today/Thursday 18/5/17 between 8am and 9am - A buffalo was reported by Lomagundi Lakeside and SWIFT staff, seen today crossing the Power line road near Lomagundi Lakeside with a tight wire snare on back right / hind leg close to the hoof, barely able to walk. Whilst he was on his own when seen, the herd was nearby so he is probably trailing behind trying to keep up with the herd. He was trying to walk across the power line road towards Baobab extension, the bridge before Batonga and one report advises towards the University area. Please advise ANY SIGHTINGS so Parks and KAWFT can assist with the removal of the wire before the hoof comes off !!

  ALERT PLEASE BE ON THE LOOK OUT for an Elephant or Ele calf, possibly carrying part of a cable snare   REMEMBER: When Driving or walking, Animals always have the right of way !!!!   POSSIBLE SNARED ELEPHANT – THICK CABLE SNARE – WEDNESDAY / THURSDAY 9 – 10/5/17   Whilst doing their routine litter clean up on their section of road on Wednesday morning, the Breezes team discovered a cable snare on the tar road by the 10km sign post just before Baobab Ext turn off.   THANK YOU to the team for alerting us to this and for some of the photos   The t hick cable snare was still attached to part of the tree, that this Elephant was caught in. There was m uch evidence on the ground in the gulley near the main tar road, of thrashing/stomping about trying to break free of the wire. This could well be one of the smaller cow herds or a herd of boys .   Parks Rangers were in the area arresting illegal wood, sand and stone culprits and having passed a
