KARIBA ANIMAL WELFARE FUND TRUST -  CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF DICK McCOWAN HILL

Another extremely sad loss to our conservation on Thursday 27 April 2017.

Dick joined in to assist us/KAWFT in 2015 after the enormous and painful loss of one of the Trustees – Cavan Warren.

Within a few weeks, Dick “got bit” with the work that goes on for our Wildlife and Environment and continued with KAWFT, soon becoming another vital link amongst us and it is with a heavy and aching heart that we bid farewell to him last week.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Dicks family. They will draw strength from so many friends and loved ones as they recall Dicks amazing life.

The celebration of the life of Dick Mc Cowan Hill  will take place at the Dome, Lomagundi Lakeside, Kariba on Tuesday 2nd May at 4.00 pm.
A further celebration of the life of Dick Mc Cowan Hill will take place on Thursday  4th May at 4.00 pm at Old Georgians Sports Club, Harare.

APPEAL for any CELLPHONES If you have any lying around in your draws or cupboards or  Father Christmas gave you a new one this year!! With the nature of work our Patrols and Parks Rangers do, cell phones are often damaged when dropped whilst walking or running in the bush as well as into the lake when on lake patrols. These are all personal phones that are lifelines to the Rangers and communication by whatsapp, sms and calls can mean the arrest of a poacher or people illegally collecting sand, stone wood etc. THANK YOU'S AUGUST TASTY TREAT SALE - Thank you to all those who donated towards and helped with the Tasty Treat Sale. KAWFT - All things Zebra! - December 2017 Update

BRAND NEW ZEBRA FOAL- 4TH DECEMBER 2017 Natureways Safaris kindly forwarded these photos of this wobbly legged newbie less than 24 hours old, seen at Mica Point. ZEBRA COLT WITH LOOSE SNARE  13 JUNE 2017 A Resident returning home from assisting with daily snare patrol drop offs reported this Zebra colt with a fresh wire SNARE loosely around his neck and trailing behind and catching on their hooves. Within minutes of the above report, Parks called us with the same report - Peters Point and Camp Hill turn off just before the dam wall. Another small herd came in before the darting and there was much tip toeing around each other, baring of teeth and flattened ears before they all calmed down and greeted each other.   This was a very difficult area to work in with cliffs, holes, gulley’s, fences and poles with wire stays as well as a very busy main road.
